If you are from the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, you can join a language course in Germany without needing a visa. But if you are from elsewhere, you will need to obtain the appropriate visa before starting your language learning adventure.

Here's what you need to get a German language course visa

  1. Passport requirements: Ensure that your passport is valid for at least three months after your departure, issued within the last ten years, and contains sufficient pages for visas.
  2. Registration: Register for a language course requiring 18 hours per week and submit registration proof.
  3. Proof of financial means: Demonstrate your ability to cover expenses through bank statements, scholarships, a blocked account, financial support letter from a German resident, or financial statements from parents.
  4. Health insurance: Obtain health insurance that covers your entire stay in Germany.
  5. Documents: Prepare necessary documents such as visa application forms, photos, passport copies, previous Schengen visas, explanatory letter, accommodation details, employer endorsement (if necessary), and proof of fee payment.
  6. Registration: Upon arrival, register your address in the first week at the local office with course attendance proof and financial records.

Application fee: The fee is 75 euros (37.5 euros for minors) and is to be paid in local currency based on the current exchange rate.
